Baking Paper*

Baking paper is known as many different products around the world, a lot of Europeans call it 'Kitchen Paper', the American people call it 'Parchment Paper'. In Australia we recommend and use GLAD-BAKE. This and many other baking papers work. Please check the paper you are using with a small amount of Applifix before proceeding with a project. Be sure you are NOT USING WAX BASED PAPER.

'Applique The EASY Craft Cubby Way'

Starting with your Reversed breakdown sheet and a grey lead pencil, trace each piece onto the smooth side of your Applifix. IMPORTANT - Number each piece

Cut out each piece leaving a space between each line. (Do not cut on the line at this stage)

Iron your traced Applifix onto the WRONG side of your selected fabric using a HOT iron for around 10 seconds,

When cool cut out shape on the line! Leave the backing paper on each piece of fabric until ready to assemble.

Take your Main Numbered Pattern Sheet and place it onto your ironing board, Cover with a Craft Cubby Applique Mat

Baking paper* is also useable for this stage but not quite as good as the Applique Mat.

Pin everything down so nothing slips!

Taking the backing sheet off each piece starting with number 1.

Lay each piece down onto the corresponding number overlapping where necessary. To help hold the pieces together simply using the tip of your iron 'tack' each piece to the Craft Cubby Applique Mat and to each other as your appliqué is built up. (if you make a mistake during the build up process, simply peel each piece apart gently and 'tack' again.)

When all pieces are down gently cover the appliqué with a piece of 'Baking Paper'* (or another Applique Mat), (this will help stop scorching) Iron with a HOT iron for approx 10 seconds. NOTE: Use a Press down motion when ironing, do not move iron around as this may move pieces around underneath!

Allow to cool totally before 'peeling off' the

Craft Cubby Applique Mat

Your Applique is now ready to iron onto any backing fabric with a hot iron, position onto background and once again place a piece if 'Baking Paper'* over before ironing for 10 seconds, this will help the fabric to not scorch.

Simply Blanket Stitch around each piece using matching embroidery threads.
